There are many aspects to sustainability, and we have chosen a holistic approach in our work. We begin with good planning and take this all the way through to material and finish selection. We analyze building orientation and massing to optimize passive solar and natural ventilation; proximity to neighborhood goods, services, and public transit; as well as the economic benefits of well-designed, compact living. We believe in lifecycle design and the added value of a flexible and adaptable building. Prior to employing active strategies we integrate appropriate passive strategies to minimize energy and water consumption.
