Disjecta Art Center
Portland, Oregon

What exactly is art today? What is its place in our culture? What is its place in our cities?
Whatever the answers may be, this center for contemporary art hopes to accommodate its forms of expression: painting, sculpture, installations, video, & live-performance art. Fixed and moving panels provide possibilities for multiple installations, displays, or performances indoors or outdoors.
Because the neighborhood is well-served by transit (including Interstate MAX) the surface parking lot will be re-purposed as landscape for performance art. Four storefront workspaces are leased to artists and will activate the streetscape and also provide economic support to Disjecta.
