We consider sustainability at the social and economic level as well as the environmental. Social
justice is of paramount importance as our urban neighborhoods gentrify. As the divide between the
‘have’ and ‘have nots’ continues to widen, we work closely with our non-profit clients to provide
affordable housing and social services in the underserved areas of our region. We are proud to partner
with the Low Income Housing Institute, Multi-Service Center, and Shelter Resources.
Similarly the economic viability of small independently owned businesses to support a community
is also an important aspect of sustainability. We strive to create appropriately scaled buildings
that reflect the character of neighborhood in a fresh way, not mimicking traditional styles but
reinterpreting them. Members of our firm are involved in community groups such as Sustainable
Capitol Hill, Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce, and Capitol Hill Arts Overlay.
