Ocean Home
Westport, Washington
This small beach home sits behind a sand dune along the Pacific coast.
With limited views of the ocean, the house was sited at a specific angle to
maximize the winter sun. Conceptually, the house features a heavy concrete wall
that bisects a lighter volume, separating the home into public and private
realms. The more intimate, cozy spaces are tucked behind the wall and the
larger, more open spaces are in front. The wall opens at specific locations
to allow for entrances, views and an outdoor fire pit, and it also creates
more private outdoor spaces.
