Seattle Parks and Recreation Community Centers Analysis
Approaching urban parks with an eye to the future
Several architectural and engineering studies were conducted for existing community centers (Daybreak Star Center, Madrona Beach House, Magnuson Park Community Center, Amy Yee Tennis Center) under Seattle Parks & Recreation. These evaluations were specifically to summarize the current conditions of the facilities and provide Seattle Parks & Recreation with a working tool for identifying and planning necessary upgrades and maintenance improvements. The reports, which have been well received, identifies code compliance and design needs with emphasis on the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) as well as structural/seismic needs. In addition, the report highlights recommendations that can be considered for the benefit in operational cost savings.
