Schemata workshop scholarship
for BIPOC and/or woman architecture students
Schemata Workshop, a Minority- and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) based in Capitol Hill, provides full architecture and urban design services for both new construction and renovation projects across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Our work spans affordable housing, parks and recreation centers, and transit infrastructure, reflecting our commitment to equitable and community-centered design. In support of advancing diversity in the field, we are pleased to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a BIPOC and/or woman student entering their fourth year or graduate studies in architecture at the University of Washington or Washington State University. In addition to the financial award, the selected student will receive mentorship from experienced professionals on portfolio development, licensure, and job search process.
Eligibility:
Currently enrolled full-time in fourth-year undergraduate or graduate study for architecture at the University of Washington or Washington State University
BIPOC and/or woman
Award:
Two students will be selected to receive a $1,000 award — one from the University of Washington and one from Washington State University.
Along with the financial award, each recipient will receive mentorship from experienced professionals at Schemata Workshop. Mentorship will include support with portfolio development, understanding the path to licensure, and preparing for job search after graduation.
Submission Requirements:
400 words or fewer essay about how your career aspirations as an architect align with Schemata Workshop’s values of community, social equity, and sustainability

Applications are due by 11:59 PM on November 16, 2025. Please submit a single PDF that includes both your essay and work sample to info@schemataworkshop.com.

Notification:
Applicants will be notified by November 24th, 2025. Notifications will be sent via email, and recipients will be invited to join us at our annual holiday party in December for public recognition.
