South Corridor Link Expansion: Tacoma Dome Link Extension
establishing a sustainable plan for southward transit expansion

The Tacoma Dome Link Extension will connect Pierce and South King County residents to the regional light rail network, including direct access to SeaTac Airport and downtown Seattle. Stations will be at Tacoma Dome, East Tacoma, Fife, and South Federal Way. The Tacoma Dome station will serve as a multi-modal transit hub, with transfer options to and from Sounder service, Tacoma Link, Pierce Transit, and Sound Transit buses.

As part of Sound Transit’s ST3 expansion plan, the Tacoma Dome Link Extension (TDLE) envisions a four-station, 10-mile southward extension from Federal Way to Tacoma. Schemata Workshop worked closely with Parametrix on alternatives analysis (AA) for station locations, with consideration given to the architectural and urban design aspects of each station location. Schemata Workshop is now focused on the South Federal Way Station, including stakeholder engagement and workshops, with a focus on optimizing multi-modal connections, pedestrian access, and in support of achieving the housing & livability goals for the City.
