Open Door Multicultural Families (ODMF) Family Resource Center & Office
supporting community members and beyond

Open Doors for Multicultural Families (ODMF) is a non-profit that empowers people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs) and their families to navigate the system of services. They provide these services in-language and in culturally appropriate ways. ODMF requested Schemata Workshop help envision a truly inclusive residential community that ultimately became the Multicultural Village in Kent. Schemata Workshop worked closely with ODMF to develop a building program that would enable them to consolidate their operations into a single facility that would help build community and create a strong sense of place.

This 22,000sf tenant improvement at the Multicultural Village in Kent will allow ODMF staff to provide their programming for advocacy, self-sufficiency, recreation, and general family support. Their offices will also be located in the space, so staff and services are nearby. The space has been designed with universal design in mind as well as additional considerations for sensory sensitivities.

*ODMF intends to operate a multicultural community center, an inclusive/integrated early learning facility, and an adult day program. ODMF will also move its offices to the site.
